Calathea Care Tips

1. Watering
Calatheas like evenly moist soil but are sensitive to water quality and overwatering.
Water when the top inch of soil begins to dry out.
Use filtered, distilled, or rainwater if possible, as tap water can cause leaf edge browning.
Ensure the pot has good drainage and avoid letting the plant sit in water.

2. Humidity
High humidity is essential for keeping Calathea foliage vibrant and healthy.
Aim for 60–80% humidity.
Use a humidifier, pebble tray, or group with other plants to raise ambient moisture.
Avoid dry air and drafts, which can cause leaf curling or browning edges.

3. Temperature
Calatheas thrive in warm, stable temperatures.
Ideal range: 65–80°F (18–27°C)
Avoid temperatures below 60°F (15°C) and keep away from cold windows, heaters, or air conditioning vents.

4. Light
Calatheas prefer bright, indirect light.
Direct sunlight can scorch their patterned leaves and cause fading.
Low to medium light is tolerated, though it may slow growth.
East or north-facing windows are ideal, or place in bright rooms with filtered light.

Clean leaves gently to remove dust and maintain their visual appeal.
