Philodendron Care Tips

1. Watering
Philodendrons prefer their soil to be evenly moist but not soggy.
Water when the top inch of soil feels dry.
Reduce watering in cooler months when the plant’s growth slows.
Always use a pot with good drainage to prevent root rot.
2. Humidity
Philodendrons thrive in moderate to high humidity, mimicking their tropical origins.
Aim for 50–70% humidity.
If your home is dry, increase humidity with a humidifier, pebble tray, or by grouping plants together.
Regular misting can help, especially in winter.
3. Temperature
Keep your Philodendron in a warm environment.
Ideal temperature: 65–80°F (18–27°C)
Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F (13°C), which can damage leaves.
Sudden temperature drops or air conditioner blasts can stress the plant.
4. Light
Philodendrons prefer bright, indirect light.
Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves, while too little light can cause leggy growth.
They adapt well to low-light conditions, but growth may slow.
Near an east or north-facing window is usually ideal.
Extra Tips
Wipe the leaves regularly to keep them dust-free and support photosynthesis.
Fertilize monthly during spring and summer with a balanced, diluted houseplant fertilizer.
Repot every 1–2 years or when roots outgrow the pot.
