Syngonium Care Tips

Syngonium

1. Watering
Syngoniums prefer evenly moist soil but dislike sitting in water.
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry.
Avoid letting the soil dry out completely, as this can stress the plant.
Ensure proper drainage in the pot to prevent root rot, and never let the plant sit in water.

2. Humidity
Syngoniums thrive in moderate to high humidity.
Aim for 50–60% humidity or higher for optimal growth.
Increase humidity with a humidifier or by placing the plant on a pebble tray.
Regular misting can also help, especially in dry climates or during winter months.

3. Temperature
Syngoniums prefer warm conditions and do not tolerate cold temperatures.
Ideal temperature range: 65–80°F (18–27°C)
Avoid temperatures below 50°F (10°C), as this can cause leaf drop or stunted growth.
Keep away from cold drafts, air conditioners, or heaters.

4. Light
Syngoniums grow best in bright, indirect light.
They can tolerate low light but will grow slower and may become leggy.
Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
An east or north-facing window is ideal for maintaining the plant’s health and vibrant foliage.

Extra Tips
Syngoniums are fast-growing and will benefit from occasional pruning to keep their shape.
Fertilize every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer.
Use a well-draining, lightweight potting mix (such as one made for aroids or tropical plants).
Repot when the plant becomes root-bound or outgrows its container, usually every 1–2 years.
For a bushier appearance, pinch back leggy growth regularly.
